well, iv'e finally been able to access this site, but am unable to download any pics yet as i have taken heaps. where do i start kathmandu awesome seemed to fit in really well the nepali people are really friendly. the flight from bangkok flew across burma, india then turned east to approach kathmandu with snow capped mountains protruding from the cloud cover, cool. the drop down into the valley was one of the most awesome sights i have ever seen, lush green foliage, terraces wow. arriving early was able to go out to the kopan monastery and the bodinath stupa by myself very moving. spent a couple of days exploring kathmandu with the tour group then it was off to lhasa tibet, the most visually stunning place i have ever seen. the altitude of 3600 mts was a problem for awhile but adjusted fairly quickly, the signs of the chinese oppression are very obvious but in spite of this the tibetans hearts still sing. visited the potala palace, norbalinka, sera monastery and the jokand temple, met monks , nuns and many of the beautiful tibetans it was extremely hard for me to leave.
back to nepal going to the pokhara valley then on to chitwan national park, the animal and bird life were incredible. then onto kathmandu for the flight to paro, bhutan which is a very beautiful place largely unspoilt but lacking the magic of tibet. we climbed for 3 hours to the tigers nest monastery gaining around 900mts in altitude to go to around 3000mts, it was a long hard slog but worth it in the end. lucky enough to have an audience and blessing with the head lama, pretty awesome. have now travelled to thimpu the capital today and as i said this is the first time to access and will try later to download some pics in the meantime i am having an awesome time.
